Celtics Take 3-0 Lead after 106-99 Victory

June 6, 2024

The Boston Celtics held their ground against a spirited comeback attempt by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals, securing a 106-99 victory and extending their series lead to 3-0. The ESPN broadcast of the game captured the intense battle between these two top teams.

Despite a strong start by the Mavericks, the Celtics maintained their composure, countering Dallas's efforts with a balanced offensive approach. Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 27 points, while Jaylen Brown added 24 and Marcus Smart contributed 17.

The Mavericks, who trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half, rallied in the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run. Kristaps Porzingis, returning from a calf injury, ignited the comeback with 20 points, including 18 in the final frame. However, the Celtics proved too strong, holding on to their lead and closing out the game with a series of clutch plays.

With this victory, the Celtics have taken a commanding lead in the series. Game 4 will take place in Boston on Saturday, June 8, where the Mavericks will aim to avoid a sweep and keep their title hopes alive.
